About Us
There are two physiotherapists working here at City North Physiotherapy Clinic. Sue Gertzel who has a Masters in Manipulative Therapy and a Graduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy, and Maria Zuluaga who holds a Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy and a Masters in Women's Health. We use a hands-on approach to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, and draw upon a variety of treatments including joint mobilization and manipulation, soft tissue massage, ultrasound, rehabilitation exercises, dry needling and Pilates. Long hours working on computers can place unusual stresses on the body creating pain in the neck, back or arms; sporting activies and hobbies can also cause injuries from over straining or over stretching. Thorough assessment and treatment allows us to help you deal with these problems. We work with you to help maintain better flexibility and improve posture to prevent further injuries. We can also come to you to help you set up your office correctly and develop in-house exercise programs. Home programs can be developed to allow you to work on your rehabilitation at home.
Whilst treating all general musculoskeletal problems Sue also has a special interest in the treatment of neck and facial pain. The range of problems dealt with includes headaches, neck stiffness and pain, restricted mouth opening, facial pain and difficulty chewing. Symptoms often result from tightness in the neck and facial muscles, poor neck posture and stiffness of the neck and jaw joints. Your problem can be assessed in conjunction with your oral medicine specialist and a treatment plan developed. Maria's special interest lies in the field of headaches, neck and back pain. She has conducted research on the spine and nervous system to improve the identification of spine and nerve injuries. She is also co-editor of Sports Physiotherapy: Applied Science and Practise (1995) as well as co-editor and author of Headache, Orofacial Pain and Bruxism: multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and management (2009). With their broad background and extensive experience Sue and Maria are committed to providing a holistic approach to your care.
